Dua After Prayer
I ask Allah for forgiveness.(three times) O Allah, You are As-Salam and from You is all peace, blessed are You, O Possessor of majesty and honour.’ AS-Salam: The One Who is free from all defects and deficiencies.
Muslim 1:414

This is a dua, or prayer, in Islamic tradition. The person is asking Allah for forgiveness three times. The dua then continues by praising Allah’s attributes “As-Salam” (The One Who is free from all defects and deficiencies) and recognizing that peace and security come from Allah.
The person is also recognizing that Allah is the source of all majesty and honor, and therefore deserving of all praise and worship. It expresses the belief that Allah is the ultimate source of peace and security and that by seeking forgiveness and recognizing Allah’s attributes, one can attain peace and security in both this life and the afterlife.
It is a common practice for Muslims to recite dua after their daily prayers, as a means of seeking Allah’s forgiveness, blessings and guidance.
This dua expresses gratitude to God and asks for His help in remembering Him, thanking Him, and worshipping Him in the best way. After prayer, Muslims may also make other duas specific to their individual needs and concerns. Making duas is an important part of the Muslim faith and is believed to bring comfort and help to those who make them.
