Hadith About Giving Charity
إن الله يقول: "إذا عطيتموني عطاءً فإني أضاعفه لكم، وإذا حرصتم على شيء من الطاعات فإني أضاعفه لكم"
Verily Allah says, "If you give Me a charity, I will give you more in return, and if you are careful with your duties towards Me, I will give you more in return."
Sahih Muslim, Hadith 2460

A Charity Hadith is an Islamic saying derived from the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). It is a reminder of the need to be generous in charity, for the sake of Allah (God) and for the benefit of mankind. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: “Allah will not accept any deed from a person unless it is done with sincerity and for the sake of Allah’s pleasure.” (Hadith Al-Bukhari) This Hadith encourages Muslims to give charity out of love and mercy for Allah, not just out of obligation.
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) also said: “Charity is a duty upon every Muslim, as Allah (God) said: ‘Spend of that which We have bestowed upon you before death comes to one of you and he says, ‘My Lord! If only You would give me reprieve for a little while (i.e. return to the worldly life), then I should give Sadaqah (i.e. Zakat) of my wealth and be among the righteous.’” (Hadith Al-Bukhari) This Hadith reminds us that we are all mortal and that we should use the time and resources we have been given to do good for others. It also stresses the importance of giving charity as a means of attaining nearness to Allah and being counted among the righteous.
Finally, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: “The best charity is that which is given when one is in need.” (Hadith Al-Bukhari) This Hadith teaches us that when we give charity, we should put the needs of others before our own. It also reminds us that charity should be given without expecting anything in return.
