Sunnah Days for Hijamah

"مَنْ حَجَّمَ فِي السَّبْعَةِ عَشَرَ، وَالْتَّاسِعَ عَشَرَ، وَالْحَادِيَ وَالْعِشْرِينَ كَانَ شِفَاءً مِنْ كُلِّ دَاءٍ"

“Whoever performs cupping on the 17th, 19th, or 21st day (of the Islamic lunar month), then it is a cure for every disease.”
Sunan Abu Dawud 3861

Narrated by Ibn Abbas, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said:

“Healing is in three things: in the incision of the cupper (hijamah), in drinking honey, and in cauterizing with fire, but I forbid my Ummah (nation) from cauterization (branding with fire).” (Sunan Ibn Majah 3477)

This Hadith indicates that cupping (hijamah) is one of the ways to promote healing and well-being, along with drinking honey and cauterizing with fire (which the Prophet forbade). The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) recommended cupping as a means of medical treatment and encouraged his followers to practice it as a form of preventive medicine.

As for the specific days for cupping, there are various narrations that mention different days, but the most commonly mentioned days are the 17th, 19th, and 21st of the lunar month. These days are known as the “sunnah days” for cupping, and it is recommended to perform cupping on these days for maximum benefit.

However, it is important to note that the practice of cupping should be done under the guidance of a trained and qualified practitioner, and one should consult with a medical professional before undergoing any medical treatment.
